This is one smart little cafe that seems constantly packed. Especially when people drop by on match days for take-away coffee. The cafe is opposite Crusaders’ temporary home Rugby Park. Yet, there’s a great deal more on offer than just a warming drink to keep you company in the stands.

Brunch is a huge hit at Meshino, with more than your standard bacon and eggs to choose from. Portion size can be a bit inconsistent, which is a shame given the hefty prices, but I’m yet to be disappointed on taste. An inspired selection of European cuisine is available for lunch and dinner.

The surroundings and second-to-none service definitely deserve a look. If nothing else, go for the coffee and special little touches. Blankets on the chairs to keep you warm on the patio in winter. Local artists’ paintings displayed on the walls. Hand crafted greetings cards on sale. And a selection of Meshino preserves and deli items to treat yourself at home.
