In Christchurch we can now dine with the stars – of the astral variety not the glitzy Hollywood type.
Stellar, situated on the top floor of the striking new building on 235 Riccarton Road, is an exciting and unique new restaurant and bar that literally takes you to the heavens.
Stars and star gazing is the theme. The central glass ceiling provides a window to the skies and a telescope is provided for those who want a closer look. The rest of the ceiling is a stunning vista of star-spangled glass.

New opened when we had gone, staff didn't inform us the coffee/tea bar (instant) that's just there without prices doesn't cost so stung $3.50 for a crappy cup of black coffee, and only had because was waiting so long for meals and water to arrive on the table. Meal wasn't anything spectacular , but atmosphere was busy and staff were under staffed as mentioned from the girl working, she was pretty good about it and lucky we weren't in any significant hurry, went their for the breakfast.
Meals were okay just very dull and something I wouldn't in future order from there, overall place could be really good for night time experience except pricy menu and given my breakfast experience wouldn't head there in hurry to see what the meal times are like. Hope this has changed over time and being open.
