That fool VIZIONZ gave this movie 3 stars when it was apparent to all he meant 5 stars. His friends (2) will be having words with him and comparing him to Matthew Turner a comparison so odious that he will be more careful next time. I'm sure he is thoroughly apologetic.
What Idiot (Matthew Turner) gave this film only a 3 star primary rating when all the viewers gave it 5 stars? Quite a cynic Mr Turner who seems to eschew happy endings and permanently brands himself as a an unhappy man in real life
Having seen this movie it clearly deserves 5 or at a pinch 4 stars. This is so clearly a must be told story true life based acted well by the main actors (Bullock) the stand out performance and her actor son Jae Head).
The many heart wrenching moments keep pointing out to us that we are so lucky in what we have.
This is a must see and Ms Bullock deserves her Oscar for Best Actress, and Mr Turner needs to get out more and stay on his depression medication.
Did I say you must see it?
This is a must see movie, - I really loved the combination of drama and family feel good. It pulls the heart strings and wakes us up that not everyone is as lucky as us. I love the way a family was remade and pulled together. Great movie!
An interesting story when you consider the rivalry for good football players in the US college football teams. A young man (Mike) is plucked from obscurity and given the chance to become a family member and encouraged to sign for a team in a different state from where he lives. Officials step in, launch an enquiry and Mike says "You never asked me why I chose the college". The fact that Sandra Bullock received an Oscar is incomprehensible; it was a role that was not demanding and certainly did not warrant her winning the award; it was a 'sitting in your lazy-boy with a glass of wine and dinner' challenge- in other words it could have been done by anyone with their eyes closed and their hands tied behind their back.
The Blind Side really did suprise me - I've never been a big fan of Sandra Bullock and in truth, thought this would be another one of those cheesy american rags to riches sporting tales a la Remember the Titans etc.
Bullocks performance was a breath of fresh air - she mastered the southern drawl very well and it's not hard to see why she was nominated for the Academy Awards based on her performance in The Blind Side.
Well recommended indeed.
Excellent Movie. At first I thought it was a "feel-good" sports movie with the average hardship in the middle, and a happy ending. But as I was watching it , I realised it was completely different. Yes it has sport in it but it was a heartfelt story about a mother taking in a sort of foster son. A beautiful movie with an amazing cast. The acting was brilliant and the script pretty good.It has something for everyone, not a boys movie and not a chick-flick, reasonably neutral.
I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. I loved it, Sandra Bullock definitely deserved her Oscar.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
You'll like The Blind Side if you liked these movies: Remember The Titans, We Are Marshall, Any Given Sunday , Gridiron Gang, Invincible.
Remember, it's not a sports movie. Sport is just an element in the movie, the real message is family.
When I accepted an invitation to see this movie I did not know what to expect. I had not seen any movies, or read anything about The Blind Side.
At the beginning of the movie I thought “oh no, it is going to be another football movie” and I settled in for the long haul.
At the end of the movie I left the movie both amazed and speechless.
Yes, The Blind Side is a film about sport; however it is a film with so much more. It is heartwarming, poignant and moving without the big blockbuster feel and any unbelievable special effects. I believe it is a story about family and finding your way and triumph over adversity.
Sandra Bullock was incredible in her role and portrayed a strong woman fiercely protective of her family. It was almost as if including Michael in their family it made them even stronger as a family unit. The real photos of Michael Oher and his family at the end were incredibly moving.
The scene between Sandra Bullock and Michael’s biological mother was beautiful and compassionate.
One quote that really stuck in my mind was from Michael’s interpretation of ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’. “I think that's what the writer was saying, that you should hope for courage and try for honor”. I think that Michael did this.
Apparently, the real Michael Oher was annoyed at how he was portrayed in the movie. So perhaps see the movie, and then if you are interested go and find out more about Oher and the Tuohy’s.
I cannot wait for the DVD so I can watch it again.
One of the best movies I have ever seen, Sandra Bullock's performance in this movie completely sold it for me, I put off watching it for a few weeks because I wasnt in the mood for a drama, but to my surprise it was pretty funny, while it is a very serious movie, it manages to get many lighthearted moments in there and at the end your reminded this was based on a true story makes it even better, its a great story and very inspirational, well worth the time to watch it! 5 Stars!
