I think you're reviewer is right - not nearly enough action for my liking. Russell Crowe does well as Robin Hood as does Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion.
Overly long but easy watching...

I found that this was almost as if Ridley Scott had picked up the Gladiator production crew and transplanted them to the Robin Hood set. The movie is very much in the same mould and it's no surprise considering that it has the same director and lead actor.

I did enjoy the presentation of the lesser actors. ER's Scott Grimes is an unusual pick considering that we know him better as Dr Archie Morris but he does a good medieval Will Scarlett. Mark Addy is awesome as Friar Tuck, he delivers his own comedy and wit into the traditional role.

The major battle scene was a bit predictable but still enjoyable. Marion and her hobbit like heroes riding to join the battle. Robin having to save himself as well as Marion. And they had landing craft in medieval times? My the French were clever.

Overall, it's an above average watch. It's well made and well acted but could have been a little better. And of course, the obvious set up to a sequel means that in a years to two we'll probably get more of it.

I wish there was a rating lower than 1 to give to this movie ... ...
Robin Hood is know for his bow and arrow ... there was hardly any bow and arrow action in this movie.

The Battle scenes were poorly constructed ... you could almost count the solders on both sides ... ... did they run out of money to hire extras?

I wouldn't recommend watching this even if you get free tickets ... ... what a waste of time ... ... - Report
