This movie was not what we were expecting at all!, while it was kinda funny, there was lots of blood, I thought it was kinda boring, this movie had so much potential to be a great movie and I think they ruined it because all they seemed to be doing is killing people.....

Kick-Ass (Superhero/Comedy/Action)

Basic premise: Dave Lizewski (Johnson) decides to break away from the status quo of watching crime happen and doing nothing about it by becoming a real-life superhero. Only, being a superhero and trying to be a superhero are two very different things.

Main cast: Aaron Johnson (Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Nowhere Boy), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad), Chloe Moretz (Dirty Sexy Money), Mark Strong and Nicolas Cage

What I wanted out of the film: I wanted to watch an action film that was funny and different from any other superhero film I had seen.

My rating: 5 Stars; This film definitely pushed the right buttons. The script was funny and offbeat, the characters intriguing and (some) bad-ass (others merely wannabes), the soundtrack eclectic and perfectly chosen for each scene, and the violence… oh the violence… was fan-frikking-tastic! Prior to watching the film, I was a little apprehensive of Moretz’s character Hit Girl wielding numerous weapons, swearing like a trooper, and massacring bad guys… but damn she was just so kick-ass! It isn’t often that the supporting characters are far more interesting than the main character but that was definitely the case for Hit Girl. Johnson is very convincing in his role as a wannabe Superhero and has set himself up for a very strong film career. His character was quirky and Johnson believably portrayed a teen desperate to do some good in the world, even if it means dying to do so. The remainder of the supporting cast were strong and convincing in their roles; whether it be a father bent on revenge for his wife’s murder (Cage), an evil drug-lord and all-round bad-ass guy (Strong), or a son seeking his evil father’s approval (Mintz-Plasse). Overall, the film was incredibly engaging from start to finish and I highly anticipate the sequel (as I hope there will be one).

Target audience/rating: Fans of superhero & action films /5 Stars
